Not Just a Guitarist Who Plays Spanish Music

There's a difference between a guitarist who has Spanish songs on a set list and a musician who has spent a lifetime inside these traditions.

I grew up in Chula Vista in a Mexican-American household where Spanish guitar and mariachi weren't performances — they were family gatherings, neighborhood celebrations, cultural identity. That's the foundation.

On top of that, I've studied with flamenco masters Diego Corriente, Manuel Valencia, and José Antonio Rodríguez. I've trained with jazz guitarists Bruce Arnold, Larry Koonse, and Peter Sprague. I've learned from Latin/world fusion pioneer Jorge Strunz and Latin jazz legend Chucho Valdés. I hold a degree from Berklee College of Music.

The result is a sound that's technically refined but culturally rooted — elegant enough for a luxury resort, authentic enough that people who grew up with this music recognize it as real.

Repertoire

Spanish & Flamenco

Rumba, bulería, alegría, sevillanas, and the full range of flamenco palos — from contemplative soleá to high-energy tangos. Performed with authentic technique, not approximation.

Classical Guitar

Spanish masters (Tárrega, Albéniz, Granados, Rodrigo), Bach, Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, and contemporary classical works. Ideal for ceremonies, fine dining, and occasions that call for refined elegance.

Bossa Nova & Latin Standards

Jobim, Getz, Bonfa — the warm, swaying sound of Brazilian bossa nova alongside Latin standards, boleros, and romantic ballads. Perfect for cocktail hours, dinner service, and sunset settings.

Custom Arrangements

Have a song that's meaningful to you? I arrange contemporary and popular songs for solo Spanish guitar — keeping the emotional core while giving them an acoustic elegance that fits the occasion.

Where This Sound Belongs

Spanish and classical guitar isn't just a genre choice — it's an acoustic fit. The sound is warm, naturally intimate, and conversation-friendly. It fills a room without overwhelming it. It photographs beautifully and creates an atmosphere that feels intentional and curated.

That's why it works so well in luxury settings: Mediterranean-inspired restaurants, coastal wedding venues, resort lobbies, wine-country estates, and intimate private gatherings where the music should elevate, not dominate.

Ensembles in the Tradition

When the occasion calls for more, I draw from a curated network of musicians who share the same depth of training:

Flamenco Duo Guitar + cajón, the rhythmic heartbeat of flamenco
Flamenco Trio Add a professional dancer for a full cultural experience
Bolero Trio Guitar, requinto, vocals — one of the rarest ensembles in San Diego
Mariachi 4 to 10 musicians for authentic traditional Mexican celebration

Every configuration is culturally authentic, not "themed." The musicians I work with are tradition bearers, not cover artists.

Bring This Sound to Your Event

Whether you're planning a wedding, hosting a private dinner, or programming entertainment for a luxury venue — I'd love to hear about it.
